What began as a small regional trucking company operating one truck is now Summerford Truck Line, Inc, a nationally recognized trucking company with a rich history involving over the road, regional, short haul, flatbed, van, ag & log divisions in all 48 states. But that’s not all!
Being a family has allowed Summerford to expand and meet other needs in the community. In 1994, Summerford Pallet Company was formed to recycle and rebuild pallets picked up by the Truck Line. In 2017, we introduced Summerford Logistics to help coordinate our fleets and the numerous partners that we have gained over our 95 years of being in business.

It all started with a bird dog . . .
Like with most family-owned companies, Summerford Truck Line has a rich and interesting story. At the age of 15, Joe Summerford (great-grandfather of President J.J. Clemmons) traded a bird dog for his first truck. None of us knows what he was thinking but we all agree it was a good trade!
The company began with just one truck hauling most anything from bricks to produce to turpentine throughout the Tri-States area. John Summerford left his life in farming to join his daddy in the trucking business in 1976 and the family business has continued to grow from there. Summerford Truck Line, Inc has a diverse past having hauled tankers, reefers, grain trailers and flatbeds. For years, Summerford found their niche specializing in coast-to-coast Flat Bed deliveries of up to 52,000 lbs per load. But as times are changing, Summerford Truck Line is growing and changing their strategy. We have become more focused on today’s drivers and figuring out ways to meet their needs and priorities. Under the current leadership of JJ Clemmons, the Truck Line is growing and continuously adding new runs and opportunities.
Summerford Truck Line currently has over the road, regional and local driving opportunities in the flat bed, ag, forestry, and van divisions. We pride ourselves on offering drivers the flexibilty to have more home time or to hit the road to make more money. Summerford Truck Line has something to offer!
